「チャンピオンズ」の感想とネタバレ
チャンピオンの編集長と言えば、藤子不二雄Aさんの「まんが道」でも有名な「壁さん」こと壁村耐三さんです。
壁さんのエピソードと言えば、手塚治虫の目の前で原稿を破ったとか、居留守をする漫画家の部屋をのぞくために、電柱を登ったなど、魅力的w なものがいっぱいです。
ただそれは、漫画家からみた壁さんでした。
「チャンピオンズ」では、秋田書店の編集者からみた壁さんが描かれています。
壁さんが「人たらし」で編集部員の士気を上げるのがうまいこと、「誰よりも小心者で優しい人」だったのです。
実はチャンピオンの編集長を2回、務めたことも知りませんでした！
2回目の編集長の時は体調を壊していて会社にもあまりこれなかったこと、部数が下がった行くのを止めたことが描かれています。
病床の手塚治虫さんと壁村さんの対話は、涙がでました。

「週刊少年チャンピオン」の発行部数
「印刷証明付き発行部数」を公表している雑誌もありますが、「チャンピオン」はしていません。
ですので、本当の発行部数は秋田書店の人しか分かりません。
公表している少年コミック誌の部数です。
2020年1～3月のデータです。
「週刊少年ジャンプ」1,572,833部
「週刊少年マガジン」 627,533部
「週刊少年サンデー」 232,500部
最高600万部のジャンプが150万部、400万部のマガジンが60万部です。
チャンピオンの最高部数は250万部と言われています。
では現在はどうなのか？
書店員からの現場の売上情報では、サンデーの6、7割ほどと言われています。
単純計算だと、14万部ほどの発行部数です。
実売部数についても推測になります。
週刊誌の返品率は40％ほどですが、コミック誌はもう少し低いです。
仮に20％の返品率とすると、実売部数は11万部です。
まとめ
「週刊少年チャンピオン」から生まれた名作は数えきれません。
「がきデカ」「ブラックジャック」「浦安鉄筋家族」「マカロニほうれん荘」「グラップラー刃牙」・・・
チャンピオンがずっと続き、これからも名作を生み出してくれることを願います！
