戦後漫画の勃興期、漫画家を目指す若者たちにより、多くの同好会が生まれたといいます。
最も有名なのは石ノ森章太郎さんが設立した「東日本漫画研究会」です。
宮城県に住んでいた小野寺章太郎（石ノ森さんの本名）さんが、高校一年生の時に結成しました。
1953年（昭和28）のことです。
手塚治虫さんが全国の子どもたちに衝撃を与え、戦後の漫画の出発点と言われる「新宝島」（育英出版）の発売は1947年（昭和22）ですので、その6年後です。
小野寺少年は「毎日中学生新聞」や「漫画少年」に自作の漫画を投稿していました。
そこの読者欄で「東日本漫画研究会」の仲間を募ったのです。
主だった活動は肉筆同人誌「墨汁一滴」の発刊です。
創刊号はほぼ、石ノ森章太郎さんが描きあげたと言われています（一冊しか作成していないので、現物が残っていません）。
「墨汁一滴」は10号まで発行されましたが、未来のプロ漫画家がメンバーとなりました。
「天才バカボン」の赤塚不二夫さん、「山口六平太」の高井研一郎さん、長谷邦夫、横山孝雄さん、横田徳男さん、伊藤章夫さん、徳南晴一郎さんといった面々です。
高井研一郎さんが長崎県出身ということもあり、九州支部もできます。
その名も「九州漫画研究会」です。
そのメンバーには「銀河鉄道999」の松本零士さんもいました。
戦後初の漫画同好会は、劇画の辰巳ヨシヒロさんが立ち上げた「子供漫画研究会」（KMK）と、ご本人が著書「劇画暮らし」（角川文庫）で書いています。
設立は1950年（昭和25）2月、辰巳ヨシヒロさんが14歳の時です。
メンバーには辰巳ヨシヒロさんの2歳上の兄である桜井昌一さんも入っています。
肉筆同人誌のタイトルは「漫画の明星」。
5名でスタートした「子供漫画研究会」は、全員で競作をして「漫画少年」や「少年ジャイアンツ」といった雑誌に投稿し、100％の入選確率を誇ったといいます。
劇画の佐藤まさあきさんも同好会を結成しています。
佐藤まさあきさんの著書『「劇画の星」をめざして 誰も書かなかった〈劇画内幕史〉』（文藝春秋）に書かれています。
グループ名は「あけぼの会」。
メンバー集めは「毎日中学生新聞」の読者欄にて、1951年（昭和26）4月に募りました。
機関誌のタイトルは「新天地」。
メンバーは最大200名にもなったそうです。
「漫画少年」に投稿で入選者に手紙を送り（当時は入選者の住所が掲載されていた）、スカウトしたのです。
会費も徴収していたというので、本格的です。
『「劇画の星」をめざして 誰も書かなかった〈劇画内幕史〉』には、他の同好会も掲載されています。
