累計発行部数は1,000万部を超え、10か国以上で翻訳されました。
戦争の悲惨さ、原爆の惨さを知らせることにもっとも貢献した本でしょう。
1945年8月6日に広島、8月9日長崎に原爆がアメリカにより落とされました。
20万人以上の命が奪われたにもかかわらず、令和のいま、戦後70年以上経つとどうしても原爆について遠いことと思ってしまいます。
広島に住んでいればまだしも、東日本に住んでいると、学校の教育でも原爆について扱いがあまり多く割かれていません。
私は東京在住ですが、偶然ですが8月6日に広島県に出張にいき、原爆展をのぞいて凄惨な写真を目の当たりにしました。
東京では決して見ることのできない、原爆の惨状を伝える写真でした。
原爆の惨さを自分の子どもたちに教え、伝えていくためにも「はだしのゲン」は読み継がれていかないといけない漫画です。
では、そのあらすじについて書いていきます。
「はだしのゲン」あらすじと最後の結末
著者の中沢啓治さんご自身が、広島で被爆されています。
6歳の時に爆心地から1.3kmのところで被爆しました。
原爆により、お父さんとお姉さん、弟を失いました。
爆風により家が倒され下敷きなってしまい、家事が巻き起こって焼け死んでしまったのです。
この体験が「はだしのゲン」に描かれています。
あらすじ
主人公は中沢啓治さんがモデルの「中岡元（ゲン）」です。
原爆が落ちたとき、ゲンは大きな塀の横に立っていて、原爆による熱線を浴びることなく助かりました。
ゲンの目の前にいたおばさんは、ほんの数メートルの差で、原爆の熱により黒焦げになってしまっていたのです。
こうやって文字にかいていてもおぞましいできことですが、漫画の描写はそこを隠すところなく描いています。
気を失っていたゲンは、家に急ぎます。
家の下敷きとなってお父さん、お姉さん、弟を助けることができず、お腹に赤ちゃんのいるお母さんと一緒に逃げます。
まだ生きている家族をしょうがないとは言え見捨ててしまう描写は、涙無くして読めません。
お母さんは赤ちゃんを満足な設備もなく路上で産みます。
友子と名付けてゲンも可愛がりますが、原爆の影響はお腹の赤ちゃんにも及んでいて、亡くなってしまいます。
お母さんも亡くしてしまいひとりになったゲンは、死んだ弟と似た隆太や他の原爆孤児たちとたくましく生きていきます。
恋もします。
原爆から10年近くたっても原爆の影響はおさまりません。
ゲンが恋した女性も原爆による白血病で亡くなります。
仲間のひとりは、広島のヤクザに殺されてしまいます。原爆により親を亡くした子どもが生活するには、欲望もありますが、あまい世界ではないのです。
戦争、原爆のもたらす悲劇は直接的なものだけではないと気づかせてくれます。
最後の結末
ただそれでも希望はあります！
ゲンや隆太は身寄りがなくつらい生活ですが、夢をもちます！
ゲンは絵描きになるという希望を叶えるために東京に行くのです！
ここで物語は終わります。
中沢啓治さんも漫画家になる夢を叶えるために、上京しました。
まさに自身の生活と重ね合わせた内容です。
