とくに異業種から編集者に転職を考えている方から、何度かこの質問をいただきました。
答えは「No」です。
異業種から編集者への転身は、かなり難しいということは間違いありません。
だからといって、まずは編プロ、と考える必要はありません。
まず、出版社の求人をみて「未経験可」と書かれていたら、迷わず応募してください。それが編集以外の業務でもです。
出版社の編集者になる一番の近道は、どんな仕事でもいいので出版社に入ることです。
社内移動は比較的、容易にできる出版社が多いのです。もし異動ができなかったとしても、出版社に一度入ってしまえば、他の出版社の人間とコネクションができるので、転職のチャンスが大きくなります。
編プロから出版社に転職するより、出版社から出版社に転職する方が、合格の可能性が高いです。
これは営業でも同様です。
書店員や取次（本の問屋）の社員から出版社の営業に転職するより、出版社から出版社の営業への転職の方が容易なのです。
出版社の人間、その中でも特に編集者はプライドが高い人種です。大手であればあるほどです。出版社の編集者にとって編プロは仕事を出してあげている取引先、と認識している人も多いです。本当は同等な立場です。
編プロに勤務して経験をつんで実績を上げ、出版社とコネクションを作って転職をする。
こういった道も確かにあり、編集の未経験者よりは有利です。
ただ、いま全くの未経験の人でまずは編プロ、と考えている人は、出版社の「未経験OK」の求人があるのなら、臆することなく応募しましょう。
それに、編プロの募集も簡単には合格しません。
入社が難しいのは出版社も編プロも同じですよ！
