求人数が少ない理由
大きく分けて3つの理由があります。
１、どの出版社の規模が小さい
小学館、集英社、講談社もそれぞれ、社員が1,000名ほどです。
他の業界の最大手の会社であれば数十万人の規模なので、圧倒的に少ないのです。
２、規模の小ささに加え、売り上げがここ20年以上、減り続けている
会社の売り上げが下がっているのに、人を増やすわけにはいきません。
たとえば、定年退職者が3名いたとしても、新卒は2名しかとりません。
３、他の業界への転職がむずかしい
編集者も書店営業も専門的なスキルが必要ですが、他の業界では使えないスキルです。
編集者はweb業界からの需要がありますが、紙の本や雑誌の経験しかなければ、思い切って転職をしようという気にもならないのです。
出版営業は、他の業界ではあまりない返品が許容されています。
私は出版社と他の業界の両方での、営業経験があります。
比較すると、出版営業は厳しさが少ないのです。
つまり、他の業界で営業をする力がなかなか身につかないので転職がむずかしいのです。
今後は増えるのか？
増えることはありません。
出版業界のマイナス基調は変わらないからです。
雑誌の創刊は、ほとんどないだけでなく、有名雑誌の休刊や廃刊が毎年ニュースになるでしょう。
書店営業も、書店が減っているので、人数も減っていくのが普通です。
唯一、伸びる分野はデジタルです。
電子書籍や、コンテンツのデジタル販売に経験のある人材は需要が高まります。
