「漫画少年」の投稿欄は、漫画家を目指す
少年たちのあこがれの場所でした。
投稿作品が入賞して漫画家になった人も
たくさんいます。
藤子不二雄のふたり、赤塚不二夫、石ノ森章太郎、
高井研一郎、辰巳ヨシヒロ、桜井昌一、
寺田ヒロオ、松本零士などなど、書ききれません。
和田誠さんや筒井康隆さんも投稿者でした。
「漫画少年」は惜しくも、
1955（昭和30）年10月に出版社の学童社の
倒産により、幕を閉じてしまいました。
ただ、「漫画少年」の投稿欄の「命」は
他の雑誌にも引き継がれました。
辰巳ヨシヒロさんが「『漫画少年』史」に
寄せた文章にこう書いています。
「昭和24年7月号（「漫画少年」の）に、
はじめて二枚のハガキマンガが入選してからの僕は、
まさに漫画投稿狂になってしまったようだ。」
「僕はその後、貸本マンガの世界に進んだが、
昭和33年頃からの短編集形式の貸本ブームを
起こした『影』や『街』でも、
このアイディアを頂戴して、
十数ページの誌面をさいて、
新人杯や新人コンクールを企画して成功させた。」
実際に「影」の新人漫画コンクールからは、
「ドカベン」「あぶさん」の水島新司さんが
輩出されているのです。

日本の漫画の発展はなかったのかもしれません。
