「新宝島」に影響をうけた漫画家は、数えきれません。

「新宝島」なくして、日本が世界一の漫画大国になることはなかったのです。
では、「新宝島」がどうして伝説となりえたのかについて、まず書いていきます。
手塚治虫「新宝島」が伝説の漫画の理由
「新宝島」の発売は戦後すぐの1947年（昭和22）。
手塚治虫さんの長編デビュー作です。原案は酒井七馬さんという、関西の大御所漫画家でした。
酒井七馬さんがあらすじを考え、手塚治虫さんが漫画を描くというスタイルを取ったのです。
戦前の漫画は田川水泡の「のらくろ」に代表されるような、動きが少ないものでした。
それに、一コマに描かれる人間は、その全身が載るというのも当時のスタイルでした。
文字も多いですよね。
ひとことで言うと、「動かない絵」です。
それが「新宝島」ではこうです！
藤子不二雄Aさんは、まるで映画を観ているようだったと、初めて「新宝島」を読んだときのことを言っています。
「新宝島」は育英出版から発売され、40万部を売り上げたといいます。
この部数については、荒唐無稽だという説もあれば、育英出版の元社員の話では60～80万部いってた、とも言われています。
当時は部数の管理がしっかりしていませんでした。
それに、手塚治虫さんは原稿料として3,000円をもらったきりで、いくら重版しても追加でお金はもらえなかったのです。
これは原作の酒井七馬さんともめる原因ともなりました。
この本に詳しく書いてありますが、「新宝島」の最後のページ（奥付）には、酒井七馬さんの名前しか書かれていませんでした。手塚治虫さんの名前がなかったのです。
酒井七馬さんにとっては、あたりまえのことだったのです。
若い手塚治虫さんに仕事をまわしてあげ、原作と構成は自ら行いました。
手塚治虫んが描きあげた原稿はページ数が多かったので、短くしてまとめたのも酒井七馬さんだったのです。
デビューした1947年には、「キングコング」「火星博士」「怪盗黄金バット」を発売しているのです！
翌1948年には、なんと14冊の単行本を発行しています。
部数も平均50,000部は発行したといいますから、売れっ子漫画家です！
「新宝島」は、手塚治虫さんにとっと、そして当時の子どもたちが漫画家を目指すきっかけになった、伝説の作品となったのです！
ちなみに、漫画家の大家である「冒険ダン吉」の島田啓三さんに、手塚治虫さんは「新宝島」を見せました。アドバイスがほしかったのです。

手塚治虫さんも自信があったでしょう。

裏を返せば、それほど新しい表現だったということです！
「新宝島」のあらすじとネタバレ
主人公はピート少年。
亡くなったピート君のお父さんが残した宝の地図をもとに、船長と一緒に宝さがしをする物語です。
上にも貼ったこのシーンは、ピート君が船に乗り込む前の急いでいるところです。
船にギリギリセーフで飛び乗りましつが、ただではすみません！
海賊に襲われたうえに嵐にもあってしまい、漂流したうえに島に流れ着いてしまいます！
そこが、宝の地図の島だったのです！
ここで簡単に宝探しがてきるわけではありません！
原住民に捕らえられてしまうのです！
有名なスティーヴンソンの「宝島」をベースにして、「ターザン」と「ロビンソン・クルーソー」を掛け合わせたものと、言われています。
戦後すぐの作品ですが、絵に「古さ」がありません！
「古さ」がない理由があります。
手塚治虫さんが晩年、全集を発売するにあたって「新宝島」を書き直しているのです。
書き直した理由は、「描き版」という方法で育英出版が漫画をつくったことにあります。
「描き版」とは、漫画家が描いた原稿を、別の人が手書きでトレースして製版して印刷することです。
つまり、手塚治虫さんが描いた原稿を別の人がなぞって、本として出版したのです。
当時も写真製版はありましたが、描き版のほうがコストが低かったので、赤本漫画では当たり前のように取られていた手法なのです。
また、酒井七馬さんが手塚治虫さんの原稿に手を入れたこともあり、全集の発売にあたってかきなおしたのです。
ちなみに、復刻した「新宝島」も発売されていて、描き版の原稿のまま読むこともできます。
小学館クリエイティブが2009年に発売しました。
1947年1月発行の初版本を底本にして、完全復刻しています。
