トキワ荘の兄貴分である寺田ヒロオさん。
手塚治虫にさんの次にトキワ荘に住みました。
テラさんに続いて、藤子不二雄さんや石ノ森章太郎さん、
赤塚不二夫さんらが集まりました。
藤子不二雄の二人の2、3歳上ですが、
圧倒的な兄貴分でした。
素晴らしい人格で精神的なリーダーであるだけでなく、
家賃の支払いに困った藤子さんらにお金を貸す
優しさも有名です。
そのテラさんですが、漫画家になる前は社会人で野球を
やっていました。
その腕前について、いろいろなところで語られています。
「えすとりあ」の季刊2号で、本人のコメントがあります。
高校は新潟県立新発田高等学校で、野球部に所属していました。
卒業後は警察の事務職になりましたが、
電電公社に転職して、都市対抗野球に出場したほとです。
セミプロです。
「えすとりあ」のインタビュアーが、国体にでたのかとたずねます。
テラさんはこう言っています。
「そんな！ どんどん話が大きくなるんだから。」
話を大きくするのは、おもに藤子不二雄Ａさんのようです笑
「皆おおげさなんですよ。僕も訂正する場が無いもんだから。」
その後、もう少し詳細に語っています。
「僕は新発田（新潟県）の電話局に勤めていて、
電電公社の職場の野球大会に勝ち進んで、
信越地区でも優勝して、
札幌の全国代表大会に出たというだけの事で、
書く人によって段々話が大きくなって
いっちゃうんです。」
これ以上のことは、うそか本当かわかりませんが、
藤子不二雄Ａさんがいろいろなところで話しています。
「テラさんが投げる姿を、プロ野球のスカウトが観に来ていた」
「テラさんはプロ野球選手を目指していた」
などなど、です。
トキワ荘関連の本で、テラさんの野球について書かれていたら、
